Architectural Toughened Glass
Toughened glass, also known as reinforced glass, Tempered glass is a high‑performance safety glass produced through a controlled thermal or chemical strengthening process. It is essentially a type of prestressed glass in which a strong compressive stress layer is formed on the surface. This engineered stress enables the glass to effectively resist external forces by offsetting tensile stress, significantly improving its load‑bearing capacity and durability. As a result, toughened glass offers outstanding resistance to wind pressure, thermal shock, sudden temperature changes, mechanical impact, and various environmental conditions. In the event of breakage, it fragments into small, blunt particles that minimize the risk of injury, making it ideal for safety‑critical architectural and industrial applications. It is important to distinguish toughened glass from FRP (fiber‑reinforced plastic), as the two materials differ greatly in composition and performance. The maximum processing size available for toughened glass is 3660mm ×16000mm, supporting large‑scale façade, glazing, and structural design requirements.
